Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

Just been told i have non erosive gastritis, had gastroscopy last week, like yourself ended up in A/E terrible pain. Still sat here 2.30 in the morning worrying, has anyone any tips on food, lost so much weight. Eating small meals several times a day taking Omerprazole 20mg twice aday not doing any good.

This can take a while. Determination plus hard work gets you there. Small meals yes and sticking to the same foods you know does not inflame your stomach. Easy to digest foods are good like smoothies as they are already in an easier to digest form but only low acid foods in them. Soy milk, oatmeal, bananas, papaya, spinach . Everyone is different with gastritis. What one person can eat the next one may be able to. But stick to plain foods like white rice, chicken, white fish, pasta no sauces etc, plain whole wheat bread, sweet potatoes, white potatoes, cooked carrots and spinach, tofu. I ate the same foods for a long time. Now I may get mild gastritis once every 3 years and I nip it in the bud quickly. Once you have it you are prone to it but you can be symptom free for most of your life. I have helped on this site since 2013 and I notice mental health issues are the main cause of this issue. Try and get help with that if that applies. Do a food journal to figure out what to avoid and not. You have to eliminate a lot of foods. This is where most people struggle. There is a huge list of foods you can not eat with gastritis.

This is a challenging issue but you can get there. Gastritis can make you feel like you can not function. Do the hard work. I did it without taking a ppi. I took zantac or pepcid ac when I needed to. Not sure if Zantac is back yet but it is safer than a ppi in my opinion. Pepcid ac is a good option too.

Thank you for being so helpful, I have been struggling with terrible depression which makes it worse, taken note of all the foods. I have been on a bland diet, trying to keep calm, so hopefully it will improve. Any other tips will be grateful.
