Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

They are starting the process of checking things out. Not too excited about it. Doesn't sound pleasant.

Dont worry about it, CT scan is fine you just lie on a table, much peferable to an endoscopy!

No, a CT will only diagnose a serious issue like a perforation, hernia, or inflamed organs, whereas an endoscopy shows the Dr all the detail of the inside of the stomach, so if it is red and swollen, or if there are ulcers. It also lets them take samples to test for bacterial infection though there are other non invasive tests for that too.

If you have a lot ot stomach problems im surprised they havent done the endoscopy first as its usually the easiest way to see whats going on. Ive had endoscopy, CT, MRI, capsule endoscopy and colonoscopy and the CT and MRI where pretty much useless for me, they showed inflammation but then thy had to follow up with a colonoscopy anyway.

So CT is a pretty easy test, endoscopy is worse but its not so bad, only lasts about 2 minutes and i had one twice with no sedation so cant be that bad :)

Same here, pretty much. I had 2 CT scans, one with contrast and the other without, one was done the night I went to the ER with alot of belly pain. Anyway, they showed nothing. It wasn't until I had my endoscopy that I found out that my whole upper GI was/is inflamed and that I also have a stomach ulcer. I go back next week for another one to see how I'm healing. It's really not a big deal. You're asleep and it's a short procedure.

Well results back in. Of course they couldn't find the cause of my pain, but for added measure, they gave me a few other things to worry about. Told me I have renal cysts and diverticulosis without diverticulitis. Terrific. If I was not concerned enough. Of course the report doesn't come with a nice person explaining things to you so you are left to dangle in the wind. Feeling broken down...

I'd call your doctor. Be careful when Doctors find something wrong in the abdomen they usually attribute all pains to this. I had the same thing when Doctors found inflammation in my bowel and refused to believe that my symptoms were in my stomach and even prescribed me steroids which just made my symptoms worse
