Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

Well I'm on my way to my tests tomorrow. I'm on clear liquid and looking at the cleanse in about 4 hours.

However, last night my sinuses started burning signaling the onset of a cold. Could be allergies I suppose, but something going on. My temp this afternoon is 99.4. Not technically a fever but up.

I called the clinic. At this point I just want to get through this. But they say if you can't breathe out of your nose, you can't do the test. I have no idea what tomorrow is going to feel like, but I'll be upset if I go through the protocol flush and cannot finish the process.

Anyone face this before and have advice?

I didn't have this problem but my endoscopy was fine. You don't even remember it. All I remember is telling the doctor.."wow these are the best drugs!" haha. My colonoscopy was awful though, they have me no meds and just went to town, it was painful.

After both times though, my insides felt fine.

the worst though is when I had my Cat scan. the cleanser they gave me made me have the worst cramps ever, bad enough that I couldn't even stand, i had to sit down to releive the pain.

Well they can defintely do the colonoscopy even if u have a cold so I would insist on that.

TBH I cant remember whether I had to breath through my nose or not during my endoscopy but there's not a lot they can do if you have to. Try some vapour rubs and inhaling steam to clear out your sinuses, hope all goes ok :)

So I woke this morning (like I had a chance to sleep) to the phone ringing. They had a cancellation and moved me up to 12:30pm CST. At least is took a few hours off of my wait. I'm a little light headed this morning and my BP was up (nerves I'm sure). But the cold shouldn't interfere. It's runny, but about the same as yesterday. I probably don't have enough fluid in me to make mucous...hahaha.

Good thoughts, prayers and wishes for me though! Thanks for all the support.

Well, as you all have said, the prep and putting the IV in was the worse part. Procedure went well. Looks like some gastritis that is resolving n there but they biopsied the areas to check for H-Pilori. Colon was perfect! The crew was great. Sensitive and understanding. Good bunch of people.

Now you can nod with understanding when someone says they have to have one because you've been through prep hell....
