Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

I was wondering if anyone tried carob powder as a coffee / chocolate substitute. It's very similar to cocoa, but caffeine free.
I had to slam the brakes on my recent hot chocolate drinking, because it ended up giving me warning signs. Or the pain was from stress... I don't know.. but I'm not risking it.
So I have a bag of carob on my counter and wondering if I should dive in.
(ps. I tried the chicory root but it didn't sit well with my stomach. This is funny, because when I was growing up in Europe parents used to give it to kids so they could feel grown up and drink "coffee". I guess I can't even handle a kid's drink.)

Personally I'm pretty certain I get discomfort from inulin fibre - over the years I've had a couple of brands of probiotics (that contained inulin in the formula as a prebiotic) & they caused me pain - whereas other probiotics (without inulin) have been ok.
