Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

I only ask because I had symptoms a few days of acid reflux before I had any stomach pain. Just wondering :)

I think it can contribute as excess acid is irritating. Eight months ago I was diagnosed with gastritis. I took dexilant (PPI) for 2 months, which suppress gastric acid and felt good after two months. As soon as I felt good I stopped the dexilant and I had a lot of acid coming back, and with the acid, the pain came back as well. But my stomach was probably not completely healed. I imagine a healthy stomach should not be affected by gastric acid.

Hi. So are you feeling better now? I've been taking Zantac for a few months... it works but I don't feel it's strong enough. Do you feel better now? I was thinking of taking dexilant.. cause I've been have awful pain for 2 days now..

Acid reflux/GERD can lead to gastritis.

Sudden stop of acid suppressors creates acid rebound effect, where the stomach re-damages itself with excess acid.
