Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
When I was at my worst, the best helps were marshmallow root tea mixed with flaxseed tea; heating pads and following a very bizarre diet.
I was about 11 months out and contemplating whether life was worth living as I was sleeping only 2 hrs a night and crying the rest of the time, living on codeine and gaining weight because the only time it didn't hurt was when I was digesting something.
Then I read a little book off amazon called "the gallbladder survival guide" because I was having my gallbladder out that month. One of the things the author mentions is that not everyone does well on a bland low fat diet and you have to play around when you have bile reflux to see what works for you.
as it turns out, what works for me is fatty food. It takes a while to digest and doesn't irritate me as much as something like rice or oatmeal (which still cause me horrible pain to this day)....
I can eat bacon all day long, but give me a bowl of rice and I'm doubled over...
So you may need to think outside the box....
And keep those heatpacks handy!
Sending hope for some recovery. I'm in a bit of a remission and I can say I'm terrified of it coming back to the point that I monitor everything I eat....
