Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

Bile reflux fears

Im so scared about having bile reflux as my pain keeps coming back. My meds don,t work and Ive looked up bile reflux. My gastro still isn,t sure whether I have it or not. He increased my meds to 3 PPIs a day. I was getting pain still on 2 PPIs a day so was reluctant to take 3 a day. Ive read that antacid meds make bile reflux worse. The only cure for bile reflux is an op. My gastro won,t suggest any op and may leave me with this pain. Its not a pain I can cope with though as its severe. I can,t eat with this pain or sleep properly. Some days it goes down to bearable. I don,t understand why that is,also why its got worse since the end of last year. Maybe Ive got to tolerate this until it decides to improve. Also when Im on my period it gets worse. I don,t know what to say to the doctor anymore,all I get is Tramodol to take. Is anyone else concerned with the cause of their gastritis and if it will go away?

Please stay off of the internet- at least in regards to looking things up. Trust me, I know how difficult it is to resist, but it really does add to your stress. And remember, more than anything, you are an incredibly strong person. You have come so far and guess what, you will make it through whatever challenges lie ahead- big or small. Plus we will be here every step of the way. In some cases, the gastritis doesn't go away. I admit that I was lucky- but I still have had my fair share of trials. And ever single one of them has made even stronger and through them I have learned even more to appreciate the good things in my life. You will too. Just keep your chin up and smile darling- it is a lovely day.

Thanks Ravenfish,it isn,t easy when Im in agony but I won,t give up. Hopefully I will get through this. I have to. I don,t know why we have to have so many trials in life,they come easier than blessings. Im fed up of this gastritis and have never suffered so much. However I have a cousin,Michael who has bowel cancer. He had an operation this week. I don,t really know him but Im sad about it. It puts things into perspective,I just hope he recovers ok.

The further you go along in this journey, the more you will learn about yourself- that is something I can promise you. Stay strong. Know you have friends. And take it as it comes, one day at a time. You will get through this, but no matter how strong we each are- everyone is entitled to a down day now and then too.

I have BRD, and Celiac, once I started eliminating foods that I am intolerant to and allergic to, I started getting better. Even the simplest things such as butter, black pepper, certain fruits and veggies.
Since doing that my stomach is having minimal flair ups. It might be in your best interest to have a testing done or do a food elimination diet to see which ones you react to.

Thanks Sowle.well I will have to avoid coffee and a few other things. Im fed up as this has got more painful since about last October. Some days I was eating better and not having all this pain. Now I can get pain very easily. You will have to tell me what you eat,if you don,t mind. I don,t have oranges but sometimes do have lemonade. I will have to watch that. Do you take Sucralfate all the time? Ive got that and Gaviscon and never know which is best.
