I was suffereing from bad nausea every morning from the beginning, but eventually I found the PPI's were the only thing that stopped it. I think it's the acid rising up into the throat that does it, but I know that after about 2-3 weeks on the meds, it stopped. I haven't had any dizziness, but that is often a common side effect of the PPI's...( I know it's a balancing act!!!) . Are you on any meds at the moment? if so how long? my Dr did give me anti sickness tablets but they reacted with the acid meds...maybe you could ask about them and will be ok. I also lost 2 stone and still suffer with the really bad tiredness... this is a nasty condition....in the beginning I wanted to sleep all the time..the exaustion is awful. How long since your dignosis?...I have mild gastritis..but it's anything but mild!!

I was feeling dizzy when I stood or sat up. Is this your experience? I was having a hard time eating too so I went to dr and apparently I was dehydrated. Get some Pedialyte and make sure you coubt the glasses of water you have ina. Day. Cold water helps. Try having smoothies until you can eat. Make them with bland fruits and vegetables. Maybe some soy protein powder. No carbonated beverages, no caffeine, no coffee (even decaf). Stay away from dairy, though if you can tolerate non fat Greek yogurt try that. Its good for your tummy. Try non acidic fruits like bananas and applesauce. Chew a lot before swallowing if youre gonna try solid foods.

boobear - its been about 1-2 years since ive been diagnosed but have only had a few bad flare ups. i have been taking omeprazole for over a year. it helps but something else seems off. i saw my doctor 2 weeks ago and they told me im doing everything right but it could take 4-6 weeks to feel better. i have "mild" gastritis as well but its def not mild.

sejra789 - yes dizzy when standing or sitting up. i drink plenty of water!! last time i had a flare up i didnt drink i ended up in the hospital never want to experience that again. i eat activia, crackers, toast, ice pops, applesauce...

I just feel im reaching a breaking point. im so tired and the nausea is unbelievable

the ginger ale probably hurt your stomach if you were just drinking it with all the carbonation. You have to stir your ginger ale till it is flat like water before drinking it. If you don't want the hassle of trying to make it flat then I suggest taking ginger capsules with a big glass of water. I have done it both ways and ginger always helps me with the nausea.

wow thanks Stitch... didnt think about the carbonation. it seems to be more upsetting than helpful even though there is a bit of relief when I belch :-)

Remainpositive, as far as the dizziness, it could possibly also be the vagus nerve. I never knew about this nerve until I was diagnosed with gastritis. It actually has quite a major role in our digestion and so many other functions. Just something to keep in mind as I would have never known about it causing some of the issues for me that it did if it wasn't for my dr. explaining it to me.

I have learned about the vagus nerve and it could very well be that. Any acid coming up will irritate it.
