Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

I have a question. In what was the most unsatisfying doctor experiences, I went in to see a Gastro doctor...or so I thought. Turns out it was a nurse practitioner. Didn't have access to my ct scan or endoscopy results. I had to access them on my phone. She went on to tell me that only h pylori or aspirin or anti inflamitories cause ulcers. Said aspirin caused my chronic mild gastritis. Chronic and mild...have anyone heard of that?

I don't like not being on my baby aspirin which protects my heart and blood against clots. Will I ever be able to take baby aspirin again?

Finally and related, my doctor started me on prednisone. Wouldn't that be hard on the gut?

I don't take baby aspirin either. I think there is other medication that causes irritation also. Like ibuprofen. Check the labels

Aspirin weakens the stomach lining so can definitely cause chronic gastritis.

Are you taking PPIs? You could also try aspirin and DGL licorice which could hopefully offset the aspirin.
