Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
Hi, i have been battling gastritis for almost 2 years now , getting a bit better with the help of nexium and bland diet but not quite there yet. I am just wondering if anyone out there has had this symptom or has it now....basically straight after eating (within 15 to 20 mins sometimes sooner) I have a weird ache/stingy type pain just around the belly button. Some times just an inch above, it doesn't matter what I eat..it's always there...and can last anything from 15mins to hours. I've had 2 endocopies showing mild antrum gastritis. no h pylori. This symptom has been going on 7 months..even when taking the ppi so figuring it can't be acid?. I have been off the nexium for about 2 months. Anyway Prayers to anyone going through this horrid condition. :)

In response to your question I would have to say I do not have that problem but I would encourage you to seek out a functional dr as it could be leaky gut/SIBO. Functional doctors are the reason I am feeling any better at all. I wish you all the best!

Anyone have any info on how nexium affects digestion when you stop taking it and how long to return to normal? Tired of this. Thanks
I know this condition is really awful isn't it!! . I did find the nexium probably the only PPI that helped after trying 3 others, but what I noticed was I had the weird belly button pain while still on it which was odd. I thought it was the PPI but the pain is still there 2 months after finishing it. I actually had a call today to see my gastro Dr tomorrow, so am going to ask lots questions. I found my digestion came back ok about 2 weeks after finishing the nexium. How long have you had the gastritis? what are your symptoms and are you healed?. I am also having a lot of random stomach pains, and discomfort every day. The pains are different to the original feelings I had with the gastritis at the beginning.But I saw The Gastro Dr today and basically he thinks that my symptoms of stomach ache/slight burning and that weird belly button pain were all set off when I had gastroenteritis two months before I had the first symptoms of gastritis (not eating /pain etc). He said that it affects all the nerves of the digestive system and then causes a IBS condition. He said anxiety is definitely a big issue with it and said I need to get that down.
