Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

anyone else struggle with recurring UTIs?

I think I have another one, just a few weeks after having one. I don't understand it, but wonder if the very high carbohydrate diet has anything to do with it. I'm eating way too much carbohydrates which our bodies process as sugar...but I mean, after a mild stomach flare up I don't know what else to eat besides bananas, oatmeal and rice etc.

Has this happened to anyone else? I'm so sick of this. As if the side effects of the meds and the diet and the pain weren't all enough, now I think I need to go back to the doctor AGAIN to have my urine tested. I just want to go back to eating healthy...but there's so many vegetables I can't eat, and too much meat etc is too heavy. Sigh.

Also wondering if the omeprazole had anything to do with this...

Yes this is happening to me and has done quite regularly. If my tummy gets acidic I then get cystitis. I can feel it coming on after a couple of days of gastritis symptoms. Its a flippin nuisance I just feel like Im a bag of acid. Is your acid under control? If it is it could well be the meds irritating the bladder, that's the conclusion I have come to.

I too have cystitis with the gastritis. Very little I can tolerate. And yes, if I am feeling better and eat too much of "the wrong things", it comes back. Mine seems to be burning itself out finally. I can eat a piece of pizza now without an immediate return to rotten pain. Can't eat it every day though. or more than once a week, in one month. That's how it goes. Tried a nice salad the other day with some dressing because I couldn't stand eating just damn chicken peas and carrots anymore.. Woke up early the next morning in pain. i did enjoy the salad when I ate it though.

You could try taking a transient probiotic like L Plantarum on a night, that should kill off any bacteria that have managed to get into your stomach and it doesn't cause any irritation to the stomach itself unlike most other anti-bacterial remedies.

I usually take one capsule, empty it into a small glass of water then drink it so it gets into my stomach.

Yes, I'm having one UTI after another for a few years now. Even with cranberry pills and baking soda to change my pH and supposedly stop the bacterial growth, nothing has helped this last year. I would love to see if anyone knows what else we could do.
