Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
I have had gastritis caused by bile for 7 years now. Precription and OTC Medicines never seemed to help me but these things do:
1. Slippery elm. I make it into a slushy drink and it will stop the pain within minutes. I buy the stuff by the pound from mountain rose herbs.
2. Pineapple and I have no idea why it works. Fresh pineapple that I cut up has the strongest beneficial effect but second choice is Walmart's Great Value brand in a can (no added vitamin C to hurt our tummies). I do not know why it works but my pain goes to a 0/10 after I eat it for 24-48 hours.
3. Chewing gum and it can't be a tart gum or a peppermint gum. I have the best luck with Extra Sugarfree bubblegum. It stimulates saliva production and it coats the sore spots in my stomach and the pain goes away.
I'm sorry you suffer from this too. It is so hard to get comfortable:(
