Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
This is what I ate : oatmeal porridge and bananas, fish baked with spinach, white rice, complan to help with extra calories as I was so thin, mash potatoes. Eat easty to digest foods which don't need chewing on. Your stomach is injured be nice to it. Don't eat wholemel it's hard enough to digest when your well and can cause bloating. No cheese , cream or dairy think like irritable bowel syndrome. No corn hard to digest obviously no tea caffeine . Papaya is ok. You have to eat more Akaline foods. Bread, white flour may also cause issues so no puddings and also eggs which is hard to digest. I know your not left with a lot of choices but if you just eat very plainly for one month you may get better but you cannot fall of the wagon as you will only suffer.
After month two you can begin to introduce more foods like chicken only a tiny portion, jacket potatoes with olive oil butter you get the drift.
Seven months on I can say I can eat all types of foods of course I do suffer depending on what i eat, but a swig of gaviscon and a couple of days of good eating and it settles by itself. I was on 30 mg of lansoprazole but now I dont take any as from mid September it took a few days to wean off them but my stomach has settled down. The problem with ppis it is a catch 22. Their main function is to prohibit acid but you need acid to digest food and if you eat food which your stomach can't digest quickly causes it a lot of problems. Therefore it will try to make more acid so then you suffer more and so if you are taking 3 tablets of ppi I think your poor stomach is crying I pain. do you suffer from painful acid reflx to your throat if not then I advise to try to reduce your ppi totally but in reduced dosage.
Also do this at night before you sleep light some candles preferably with a mild fragrance like lavender. Lie on your bed close your eyes and clear your mind. Concentrate on breathing in and out and meditate for at least 20 mins in the dark or stare at the candle intermittently and tell yourself you will get well like you really mean it and believe it. Ask for a higher power to heal you and believe in it. I know it sounds weird but believe me you have got nothing to lose.
I hope you get better soon as for those of you out there be really strict on your diet eat only soft bland foods. Think very old people and babies. :)
