Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
you seem to have a very similar experience to my own. do you ever get any dizziness or light headedness
I think the anxiety symptoms are somewhat different for everyone. Years ago I suffered from chronic dizziness. I always thought that many of the symptoms I had were related to the illness, however when I started having them during my stomach issues, I realized that alot of them were actually the anxiety.
1. Sound Sensitivity (Your body is in a highly sensitized state). Your nerves are sensitized for fight or flight. Your body's fear is making your hearing more alert. Doesn't work so well for us when it happens to me when I am trying to sleep in the morning.
2. Night sweats. I used to wake up soaked
3. Shaking... I get tremors when I wake up in the morning...
4. Weak legs.. my legs feel like jello
5. Butterflies in my stomach
6. A rush of something for a few seconds when I get really anxious.
I am trying to relax to let my body heal and get out of this state.... but it is hard... If my stomach would relent, I know I would be able to recover easier.
I don't get dizzy... but they are all terrible symptoms to have...
I also wanted to point out that I do have anxiety issues normally, and I have always kept them in check with exercise. Since my stomach issues began, I need to start meds, cuz I cannot handle it,
How can you possibly have something like gastritis and NOT be anxious? You can't. At least most people couldn't. It's so hard to face day after day.
I was sitting here reading today and suddenly that old panicky feeling came over me. Took a Xanax and felt better in about 30 minutes. I happened to see myself in the bathroom mirror and the sight of a skeleton looking back at me totally depressed me. Hence, the panic attack.
