Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
My memory is sketchy... I think I read somewhere on one of these posts that Zantac is an antihistamine. Can anyone clear this up for me? If it IS a antihistamine what is the benefit of it to our stomachs? I'm almost sure I also read that some people use Benadryl for their gastritis too.
I might be way off here. But I'm pretty sure I read something like this not too long ago.

There WAS a discussion on here where someone's gastritis was accidentally eased by Benadryl. In fact it's this one.

There's also been various posts in the past where those with bile reflux seem to benefit from nasal decongestants like sudafed.
Useful side effects for once!
In 2009 I had a very fun Sudafed-triggered panic attack which lasted for several weeks, like my system shifted into a different gear, and it had to be beat down with Xanax.
A good one I get on Lansoprazole is elevated mood. I'm generally a happy bunny anyway, but on Lansoprazole I'm intolerably happy.
I'm always afraid to mix medicines. Hard to know what's safe.
