Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

Hi, ive been battling with Gerd and Gastritis for a few years now. Things had been going ok until i got a suspicious looking insect bite and was put on high strength antibiotics for a week. A few days in I started to feel nauseous a lot, but i persevered and took the full week and finished on Wednesday. Since then things have been getting progressively worse, i am so nauseous now all the time that i can barely function and barely eat. Ive been taking lots of probiotics and sticking to a bland diet but the nausea just doesnt seem to be getting better.

Ive been taking anti nausea meds but they dont help at all. Im just lying in bed all day unable to function or even concentrate on anything because the nausea is so bad.

Has anyone else had such a reaction to antibiotics? Why is it getting worse after ive finished them :(

I think you might want to call your doctor and tell them how nauseated you are and unable to eat. I can't imagine why it's getting worse if your doing a lot of probiotics. But if your at the point where you almost aren't eating I think the doctor needs to know. Your electrolytes might be really off at this point in time. Gatorade or an IV would fix that. Your best bet is to call your doctor.

Thanks will give them a go. I went to the dr and they gave me a new anti nausea med, seems to be helping but my insides still feel very sensitive. Am managing to eat something, just 0.5-1 potato every hour or two, and a tiny bit of fish for some protein.

Still suffering from this, been 3 weeks since I stopped. At times the nausea has been OK, and I've got some appetite back, but other times I just get the constant nausea again. Surely I shouldn't be suffering for 3 weeks after finishing the drug?

Trouble is I just can't think of anything else that could have caused it, my diet and other medications have been the same throughout :(
