Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
Hi all well I was having a good few days but I got a chest infection recently and got put on antibiotics. I took one earlier in the day then one later on and started to get some bloating and pain. Last night I had really bad pain and all day today with no relief. Also I got stressed out with it. Im wondering if the antibiotics have upset my stomach but I did have some fatty fish and chips which I should not have had the day before. I can cut out the fat but not the antibiotics but now Im suffering bad. It seemed to be easing off taking two Lansoprazoles a day but now this. The flare I had before started with reflux but this time with the antibiotic. It looks like I will suffer until it calms down. I have tried Slippery elm but thats not helped and I have to keep waiting so long to take things seperately from my meds. I just wish I could take it all together then I could have the herbal stuff and the meds. Is chamomile tea ok with meds? Does anyone take it along with other stuff too like Slippery elm? Thanks
I'll bet you're right--maybe the antibiotics 'killed off' the good stomach bacteria. When I had the appendix surgery last year, I had all kinds of antibiotics pumped into me while in the hospital. A nurse, a surgeon, and a dietician all told me to be sure to eat yogurt with acidophilus to help get the 'good' bacteria. You could check with your doc on that, too, just to make sure nothing else is going on.
I'm not currently taking any meds, so, I'm sorry I'm not more help as to what 'mixes' with meds and what doesn't. I hope someone else here can help, and I hope things are better soon!! Best wishes!
