Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

An eating out victory

Last night I enjoyed a delicious meal at my favourite Italian eatery for the first time in three years. After gaining enough foods back and asking my usual questions off we went. I tucked into spinach and ricotta cannelloni and followed it with chocolate mousse. My only discomfort was from over eating despite sharing the mousse!
It was a nervous night as I waited for any possible pain to kick in. I may never eat Asian out again but this is so huge for me I don't care at all.
Just wanted to share some hope for everyones future. I may never be over this but managed well I can live with it now.

Hi soretum Im glad to hear you can eat Italian food. It doesn,t look like I can tolerate it yet as I had some yesterday and have got awful pain. I had similar to you but had a pizza with spinach on and cheese and egg. I had an icecream with some chocolate from Mcdonalds. Ive regretted it but I had some pain before I ate anything anyway. Still I shall be more careful now. I don,t know what to eat when Im out as I can,t have Indian food and even Chinese isn,t a good idea so I went for Italian food. It looks like I will need to go for a chicken grill in future.

soretum, great to hear that you were able to enjoy a night out with your favourite cuisine (being careful of course). Very encouraging. I think that I will try it sometime, but only if there is nothing going on the following days (as I started the other thread on restaurant eating).

Last night we picked a restaurant ans sat down. I looked at the menu and everything was greasy. Felt so bad but my husband said let's go then, so we got up and left to our usual restaurant where I could have a simple omelet and toast.

For me, I can and won't give up chocolate....just eat lots less. Having said that, I just got a whole bunch of chocolate for mother's day...but again, little pieces.

Anyways, thanks for sharing that all went "ok".

poorlygirl, am sorry that you're still struggling too. Hopefully someday you can try one of your favourites.

Despite this victory most of my eating out will still be places offering simple choices or places I know already and have safe tasty options. Still I did enjoy the little victory. The Maccas ice cream could have been the worst offender as it can upset even the healthiest gut. HOpe the pain has eased now.
