Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
Let us know if it works:)
I want to get off the prilosec so badly. I went to my PCP today for blurry vision, eye twitching and leg cramps. - all symptoms of long use of PPI..(I've only been on them for 2.5 months) So I will get a blood test for Magnesium, calcium and something else....and then a fasting blood glucose test. I told this dr that I want to get off the prilosec and she said the GI wants me to stay on it even though the ulcer is gone. I do have mild gastritis. I told her BUT I DON'T WANT TO BE ON IT. She just shrugged her shoulders.
Can't wait for my appt next Wed with the GI to discuss it. In the mean time, I'm just going to take 1 prilosec a day, not two.
I will let you all know if it works.
Low in calories, naturally fat- and cholesterol free, more potassium than four bananas, and super hydrating -
According to the website Home Remedies, for gastritis effective when you consume nothing but coconut water for the first 24 hours after gastritis symptoms start.
The good: This food is very low in Cholesterol. It is also a good source of Vitamin C, Riboflavin and Calcium, and a very good source of Dietary Fiber, Magnesium, Potassium and Manganese.
The bad: This food is very high in Sodium, and a large portion of the calories in this food come from sugars.
I may start drinking coconut water too...depends on the price. I hadn't decided...
So what do they saw about aloe vera? I will pay for it, if they will help. Have also tried DCL licorice (don't think it helps) and slippery elm (may help).
