Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
Yes I am currently on a bland diet. Have lost almost 20kg cause of this. I am going to ask my doc to put me back on nortriptyline for the nerve pain. I wanted to get scoped again because it has been 5 months and I want to know how much I have healed? Or if I have healed but I am suffering from something else. Its just very straining for me :(
I am not sure if mine is chronic. I asked my doc he keeps saying that is functional. WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN :(
It is not quite the same as regular gastritis. I think it is really important to get to the cause of antral gastritis, isnt it? The treatment has to do with what is causing it? Isnt it an auto immune issue? Isnt an infection the number one cause of it?
A PPI might treat some of the symptoms but I thought it is important to figure out the exact cause of this type of gastritis. That may be why a PPI doesnt work as well for you.
I think there are a few other causes as well. You need to be proactive and understand this problem as much as you can.
I was on nexium only last year had 0 acid which brought tons of symptoms but i was still eating triggers (within a bland diet) so it did not help at all but made me worse with the rebound.
Maybe if you tell us your foods and how you cook em/eat them people here can help. Theres a guy here john who saw improvement after a year or two on nexium, u might be like him !
My doc did the biopsy when doing the endo and i was tested negative for the HP bacteria, and he did not mentioned anything about autoimmunity. So i believed that mine is just gastritis in the antrum region.
one to two years?? My god. I hope I can get through this. I am getting married next year and I am starting my part time degree sch in Oct. I was really hoping I would be able to heal by then. I know it takes time. But sometimes it can be very dejecting when you think you are getting better with lesser pain and suddenly, the pain comes in a rush.
I eat cooked oatmeal with banana, soyabean milk, tofu with very little syrup, peanut butter toast, low fat yogurt, ham sandwich (only at times), rice porridge with steam chicken
I am also taking pepzin gi twice daily and vitamin A (Just started on Monday)
Have been taking probiotics twice daily since Oct.
Am planning to get L glutamine powder as well. Anyone tried this before?
Yes the scope was done even before I was put on the dexilant or any other med.
The peanut butter portion is only 1 tea spoon. And I do not take yogurt everyday. Maybe once or twice a week? I will drop that.
Went to see the doc yesterday. He believes I'm suffering from functional dyspepsia. He feels that my gastritis should have healed by now and I'm just suffering from dyspepsia as my nerves are still v sensitive. He started me on nortriptyline for the pain. Still on dexilant.
Will most probably go for a re scope next month to confirm my gastric has healed and it is indeed dyspepsia. Haiz.
