Hi, About six weeks ago I started being neasea and was vomiting white stuff stomach very sore and went in my chest, my chest was that sore I was thinking I was taking a heart attack pain going into my right side off my back. And have no appetite.
I have been sick for 8 weeks before this I had the flu then a ear infection then I had an infection so I had seen the doctors a few times.
So six weeks ago went and saw doctor again they said I had gastritis as I have suffered from IBS for years, they give me omeprazole 200mg two a day for 4 weeks then reduce to one a day it did help for a while then the sickness came back so rang doctors again then I was given ranitidine 150mg twice a day to be taken with the omeprazole. But for the last 4 days still feel unwell still have not much appetite.

Hi Suzie, hope you will recover soons, since our symptoms, eventhough bad, seem not to be since a very long time. Keep a diet and stick to the meds and this will help.

Hi. My symptoms were gnawing pain and nausea very awful. I dont think I received the right treatment soon enough which caused it to drag out. Much better now get a slight ache and upset stomach still if i overeat. It seems that the correct medication is important.

Hi everyone! Is it common to experience such debilitating pain with gastritis? I’ve twice now left work in tears this month. Back in the fall I went to urgent care twice due to the pain. I’ve been told it’s just gastritis. I’ve had endoscopy and ultrasound confirming such. Hida scan soon to look at gallbladder. The pain is just awful! It’s no matter what I eat (I eat nearly no processed foods, no acidic foods, no alcohol, no coffee, and hardly any sweets or meat). What do you do for the pain? I can’t keep leaving work!

Lilfish, from what I've read, some people have severe gastritis crisis, but inbetween no pain. Others are with almost consrant, but bearable pain.

Thanks prizma. I constantly have some sort of symptoms ranging from heart burn to nausea to full pain. The severe pain comes and goes. It’s been like this for nine months now. I’m really frustrated as I’ve been on medication and eating correctly. Not sure if this will ever be fixed

My pain was also focused on the left side near my ribs, I had an ultrasound and blood work done the results were I had stomach ulcers, and gallstones, my MRI is next week and then I goto ser a surgeon to set up getting my gallbladder removed. The pain was really bad, it felt worse than labour pains. It would radiate to my back and my chest would feel so tight I felt like I couldn't breath. I had to be strict with what i ate to feel better. I am doing well now but doctor says i still need to get my gallbladder removed. I was also prescribed pantoprazole which I found helped me after a week along with very strict diet. Good luck to you all.

Hi. At the moment im waiting for my endoscopy and have had to stop taking my omeprazole so they can see how inflamed my stomach is. Ive been drinking lemon and ginger tea with a spoon of honey . It does take the edge off the pain but as soon as I eat again, bang its back. This is the 2nd flare up ive had , the last being 3 years ago. Going to be tested for H Pylori this Friday coming and hopefully they can sort it . Sick of rice , rice, and more rice !!

lemon + ginger tea + honey. That would kill my stomach!! All those 3 things are bad for gastritis. Ginger would work great for indigestion but not for gastritis if that is what you have. Ginger is very irritating, lemon is worst (for drinking lemonade/organge juice I came to have the ulcers) and honey is bad for gastritis as well. Stop those immediatly. If you want a tea, chamomile tea is good choice, the only safe tea to drink.

Horrible gnawing pain and deep, loud, very embarrassing burping that goes on for hours.
