Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
Are you taking any PPIs?
I was diagnosed with stress induced Gastritis two weeks ago and I was told to eat whatever my body will allow, but I get full so fast and it just doesn't feel good eating even if I am hungry. I am on Proton Pump Inhibitor(Omperazole 20mg) to remove some of the stomach acid. I was wondering if this is what you did. Did you get a scope ? They do not want to do this for me for six weeks. I have lost 10 pounds in two weeks , I think do to the fact that I cant eat much. I was wondering if you have any advice or could tell me how you were feeling at two weeks?
Montrealer - Try and stick with bland foods mentioned above...I did NOT get a scope, my doctor diagnosed me based on symptoms but I am still pushing for one in the fact there is anything else going on. At the two week point I was still feeling pretty crummy, I would say by the third week I could feel some improvement. As hard as it is try and manage the stress/anxiety because I know from experience that it makes things much much worse!!!!
