Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.

So I am no longer on Dexilant, my pharmacy said they had the wrong dosage for Dexilant, so instead they gave me the generic form of Protonix, which is called pantoprazole. Seems like an odd reason to switch me? Has anyone had good results with this? i'm kind of annoyed with this switch. Dexilant was working so well for me. Anyway just hope this works just as good.

I would not have accepted the change, personally.
I'd have insisted they find a pharmacy that had the med for me and switch my rx there instead, if they couldn't get it the next day.

Now I'm finding out my insurance wouldn't cover it, so my doc tried to get me Nexium, and again my insurance wouldn't cover that. Protonix was her third choice, ugh damn insurance companies. I'm hoping this med works, just worries me that this wasn't her first choice of meds.

To Juajoy, that's what I am taking, same thing my doctor prescribed protonix but that's what the pharmacy gave me, I think it works I use it along with other supplements.

I just got home from the E/R with some wicked esophageal spams. Guess what they gave me in an IV... Protonix. And... it worked great. So they gave me a script for this stuff. Hope it works as well at home as it did in the hospital.
