Gastritis Support Group
Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
No energy to write 5 more tomes of crap right now.
Unfortunately gastritis caused by bile reflux is more difficult to manage than gastritis caused by gastric acid. With acid there are plenty of acid suppression meds.
I'm unsure about Pepzin GI for bile reflux, but it might be helpful in healing up existing damage & protecting the lining somewhat.
I think there's a handful of others on this forum with good knowledge of bile reflux & have their's under control. I think one person was Silkakc, but I don't know if they're still active on this forum. Message that person.
Do as much reading & research as possible on this forum. Search bile reflux. There is plenty of historical stuff on here.
Also a bland, low acid, low fat diet will help. Ask as many questions as you like. We are here to support you.
I know the hiatal hernia diagnoses can be scary. They are very common. Is yours small and sliding? You need to have an idea of the size. Remember what i told you about exercising a lot and straining a lot? That is how i got my small sliding one and the GI agreed about the ab machine thing and years of exercising a lot. A lot of stress can make the stomach move up as well. The stomach is very sensitive to stress. If it is a small one it is no big deal but it makes you more prone to these acid issues.
I know other people with a HH that have bile reflux. it seems to be related to it. I am not sure why but they know the stomach moves up further with an HH and when it herniates into the hiatus it does disrupt the function of the stomach but not as much with small ones that slide in and out. I dont have bile reflux . I had heartburn regularly in the past and mild gastritis one or two times.. An HH makes you more prone to gastritis as well.
So do all the stuff shihonage posted to you in the defeated post you did a week or so ago.
I think you are getting the silent reflux you talked about(sore throat and hoarseness, which are the main symptoms) from the dysfunctioning esophagus. It opens when it shouldnt with a hiatal hernia.
You can make this way better. Just do the hard work now that we have talked about. Do what shihonage says and manage the diet really well forever with an HH.
