Gastritis is a medical term for inflammation of the lining of the stomach. It means that white blood cells move into the wall of the stomach as a response to some type of injury. Gastritis has many underlying causes, from infection with the bacterium H. pylori, bile reflux, or excessive consumption of alcohol or certain foods or drugs like aspirin.
Hello all! Haven't written too much lately because I had surgery about 10 days ago. I was wondering if you all feel worse lying down? I get pain across my mid of upper back often when lying down. Kind of an irritating pain...not burning. Just wonder if this is acid or pressure pf some kind. Anyone know? Hope you're all doing well!
I know especially just after I was diagnosed, the pain would be horrible if I were lying down; I was afraid to even move! It was my stomach that had pain, though, not my back. But I often get back pain with my fibromyalgia, and I think it is also connected with the gastritis (can be hard to tell the difference at times).
But you may already know that you shouldn't lie down for a few hours after eating anything. I made the painful mistake of eating a few crackers and a popsicle, then going to bed 45 minutes later, just after being diagnosed. I learned the hard way!

Yes I would get a pain too, not a burning but a niggle. I though it could be something pressing on the inflamed tissue in that position.
Also if you get any gas build up that can feel like pressure in all sorts of areas.
