Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
Because of my complications the doctors have had me on a eat what stays down mostly program. In January I was asked to take my shakes 3 x a day to put some weight back on. I have maintained my same weight now since april.
the formal diet which I will incorporate when everything is working right is.
full liquids
soft
soft drop protein shakes ...........wk 3
by week 7 is a balanced high protein high fiber diet ......at this point things like yogurt potatoes oatmeal consistency are omitted they don't stay with you long enough my nut feels.
looking at these diets does anyone else grab tips or ideas from others to take to their nut? I have over the years.
Week 1 - Liquids
Weeks 2-6 Pureed foods
Weeks 7-10 Soft foods
3 Months - Basically back to normal.
Here's a link to my plan if you are interested.

From day home from hospital... no chew foods for 2 weeks. My NUTs thing was "If you don't have to chew... its ok to do!" :)
Then at my 2 week check up... I was released to regular foods. Of course it was go easy, and be smart about it. But after 6 nut visits and 2 post op diet classes, it was easy to be smart about it :)
I know many see this as very quick progression, and it is, but I've not had ONE problem... so it works for me!
Two weeks pre-op - protein shakes and veggies
First week post-op - clear liquids
Second week post-op - full liquids
Third week post-op - pureed foods
Fourth week post-op - soft foods
Thereafter - whatever I could tolerate - focus on protein first and foremost
