I feel like I could die between now and 6 months from now when I might possibly be able to have the surgery. I wish there was some other way that I could get to the surgery sooner. Not only am I afraid that I won't even survive til then but I'm also worried that I won't have my job long enough to even get the insurance to pay for it. They want to see that I have had 6 months documented diet, but does the insurance think I have gotten to the point that I need to have gb without dieting and trying to not get to this point. I did LA WeightLoss for 2 years and look where I am. I went to Metabolic Nutrition Center for a year and that also didn't not help me. So now I have to do another 6 months of trying a diet? It's ridiculous. My job is not going well and I'm afraid that I'm gonna lose it and it took me 6 months to even get that job and I know that it has a lot to do with my weight. I have been fully qualified for teaching jobs that I applied for and when it comes to whether I get the job or a normal sized person with no experience and not as much education guess who gets the job. NOT ME!!!! and as long as I'm huge I will always have this problem and now I could end up losing my job again in 4 months and then I won't have had the surgery and I will still be fat and not able to find a good job to support my son and I. Anyway, thanks for listening to me.

Wow that's a rotten place to be right now. Most of us are at the mercy of the insurance company that pays for the surgery, it sucks. I wish I could help, my prayers are with you. Try to take things one day at a time. Continue along with the process and hope for the best.

I am so sorry that you are frustrated! I know how that feels and how overwhelming that can be!!!
Do you have documentation of your previous weightloss attempts? Like from LA WeightLoss or from Metabolic?
I know that I did Weight Watchers and another like Metabolic (People on the Go) and I got them to provide documentation of my wieght loss and that all counted for me.
I am not sure who your insurance carrier is but it is worth checking into.

My surgeon and insurance told me the same thing and I thought "crap, I can't do this six more months!" Turned out I did not need to, I just needed to "prove" that I had tried to loose weight for at least 6 months in my life, and who hasn't!!!!

You should definitely take the time to find documentation that you did LA Weighloss and the Metabolic Nutrition Center. If you have those things and submit them to the insurance company, it could help. I think there are alot of people who have to resubmit to insurance. Keep trying!!

Hmmm. I'm not sure how my weight loss clinic handles the paperwork in regards to how they qualify the prior attempts at dieting, but I just filled out a questionaire about all the diets I have tried throughout my life. And that's what they submitted to my insurance. My BMI was 50, and that may have had something to do with me qualifying. As part of the surgeon's requirements I had to lose at least 30 lbs. preop with the help of a nutritionist. Start to finish, it took about 6 months to get to surgery day.

I know everyone has different hoops they have to jump through to get to this point. I do really feel like one of the lucky few who have gotten to have this surgery.
