I had some wine about 10 months post up and it really hit hard. But after about 20 mins, the feeling went away. I have heard that it is really easy to become addicted to alcohol post op. Spoke to my Dr. about it and she recommends avoiding all types of alcohol, but aside from that she shared we will get buzzed so much faster because of GBS. She failed to explain why I sing and dance so much better after the buzz though.

hahaha Rath very funny I'm hoping it will allow me to play the piano cause I don't know how hahahahah As for the wine I will treat myself to a glass at christmas or new year but a very SMALL ONE don't want to humiliate myself completely..

You're just gonna love your little pouch. You'll be the cheapest date in town, going out to dinner and drinks that is LOL

I am 7.5 months out and I have had probably 2 glasses of wine spread out over at least 6/8 separate occasions. I usually have them pour me a tablespoon or two and NEVER when I'm driving anywhere. I have not gotten to anything approaching drunk, but standing up from the table I've gotten a little dizzy a couple of times. If you are going to try it I would recommend trying it at home with friends or family and let someone know that they should watch out for you because you have heard that alcohol may get you really drunk really quick. My son watched me like a hawk, because he new his dad would be fairly useless. Upside of all this is that I am in high demand as the designated driver when we go wine tasting. I understand a little celebration, but an ounce or two goes a lot farther than it used too.

Yes I was able to have wine at that time after surgery, I usually would sip a glass over an hour or longer but it sure was hice!

I am 18 months out and have a glass of wine on occassion. I do a half glass. Sip it slow as it hits fast and hard. (goes away fast too) NEVER when I am the driver as I worked to hard to get my nursing license, not taking any chances screwing up the way I make a living getting a DUI or anything.

Alisa, you will enjoy other types of drink much more than alcohol. You will only be able to tolerate a very minute portion, so why bother? Get something you will be able to enjoy more.

I am a wine drinker. But, I only order one glass and always leave 1/2 of it..they don't sell it in thimbles or it would suit me better. I don't drink it for the buzz, but rather I really enjoy the taste. I have to drink so incredibly slow, because I can get buzzed 4 to 5 times to the extent I cannot walk...on only 2-3 ounces of wine. I have always been a very light drinker, so this does not surprise me much.

I've had a few glasses of wine, but some are high in sugar, so I always dilute it with a bit of water and a few ice cubes.
