I asked my wife about my getting a wig, I been bald for years. She just sat there and laughed! I'd go to a good hair dresser and ask questions.

That's what I'd do if my (balding) hubby asked me :) Thanks for the laugh!

instead of a wig like Sgt Smith said ask a hardresser, you might be able to get inserts I know thats not the right word for them, but they are hair peices you can clip into your own hair to make it look thicker. My sister has really thin hair, and she wears a head band type thing that makes her hair look thicker

One place that is bound to have good wig resources is your local cancer center. Since many who have to do chemotherapy lose their hair, cancer centers often keep a list of the best places to find wigs in their area. There is also a company called TLC that has wigs for not a lot of money, but the down side to that is not being able to try them on. Ideally you can find a place that has lots of styles to choose from, and you can play with color, style, and cut until you find the one that looks and feels just right..."Say yes to the dress" strategies work for wigs too!

One of my best friends had her daughter go with her and take pics in her favorites, then she sent us all the pics and had us vote on what we thought looked best. It was a hoot! And she picked a toally different one than any of the pics, but...she knew the right one when she found it.

On the other hand...I have very fine hair and it is kind of sparse at the best of times. I lost as everyone else does but now I have these 1" pieces coming back that stick up like some babies' new growth. It never got so bad that I felt I needed a wig, I just used products and techniques that fluffed out what I had and it looked okay. In fac, my profile pic is when it was at its thinnest! It still feels like I have no hair but it looks decent despite what I have lost. So, you may not need a wig at all, you will know if that time comes!

I feels so vain to worry about hair loss :), but I cannot help it! I think worried is too strong of a word, I'd rather like to consider it "Planning for the worse, hoping for the best" LOL!! :)

For men, they can go bald and be sexy.... The only bald and sexy chick I know of is that one on one of the star trek shows.... Wait, now that I think of it, she looked weird without hair too! LOL!

I used the Nioxin line of hair products which made my hair look thicker. Also I started biotin supplement 6 months before surgery and continued afterwards. I have very thin hair to begin with and lost a minimal amount.

I also had my hair dresser cut my hair a bit shorter than usual to get rid of damaged ends at about 6 months after surgery.

Becca there is no need to feel vain about the hair loss - i'm sure as women we can all relate to your concern. Because of some damage caused to my hair (illness related) some time ago - I have become the original wig queen - I pray you won't have to go this route - but if you do, there are far worse things that could happen besides wearing a wig. I have a slew of them in a slew of colors and I wear and care for them as I do for my natural hair. In fact when people as me if my hair is mine my first response is "would you like to see the receipt" lmbo @ me. Absolutely no shame in my game. I have very thin hair by nature and even when my crown was in it's glory the thinness prevented me from keeping a style so I'll probably be one of those who experience loss in depth. Luckily for me I am already use to wearing my wigs and I wear them well - so goooooooooooo me!!!

Thanks ladies!! I'm gonna do all I can to prevent the wig route, mainly cause I think it would take some serious getting use to... I might check into those hair thingys that add fullness and see what thats all about. A good place to start... Oh, and of course taking good care of my hair now :)

Wigs can be a girls best friend....I wore them prior to locking my hair. It was fun to change your color, style, length etc without the added damage to your hair. There is such a big variety out these days and you can have them cut to your specifications right there in the shop. Hopefully you won't need to purchase a wig but if you do have fun selecting the right one for you and who knows maybe you will find something that will add a little spice to your marriage or relationship.
