Hey, I thought so too years ago before having it. So nieve!!
54 grams of protein! That's what I need, can't get enough in ;(
On my way to Walmart. I'm on soft foods for another week and read somewhere you can have chicken noodle soup! Is it true??
The first 4 months I didn't eat any white carbs (no rice, pasta, crackers, popcorn, sugar, bread, potatoes etc). My program allowed cooked veggies and non-citrus fruits after the first month, but at a ratio of 3 bites of protein to 1 bite of fruit or veggie.
I start my day with a double (2 scoops of my powder) protein shake. I try to get 30 grams of protein in within 30 minutes of getting up. I wasn't able to do the protein shake first thing until after the first month - before that I was too nauseous to drink my protein shake first thing in the morning. In the early days I had to start with hot, herbal tea to sooth my pouch. I also make my protein shake with water and lots of ice. I pour some into a glass and put it in the freezer and drink the other half right away. I use one scoop of Gold Standard Extreme Milk Chocolate and 1 scoop of Metabolic Nutrition Protizyme Peanut Butter Cookie. I also toss in a scoop of Miralax and a tsp each of creatine and L-glutamine. A couple hours later I have "breakfast." The first 4 months that was usually low-fat cottage cheese. From month 4 until I hit goal I ate high-protein oatmeal.
Lunch the first month (after the week of liquids) was usually either chicken salad, egg salad, or tuna salad (made with low fat mao). Dinner was usually some chicken with some low-fat sour cream to moisten it (dark meat chicken worked best for me). After the second month, I was allowed beef.
After the first month, I started eating a protein bar for lunch (premier protein - has 30 grams of protein per bar). I also had peanut butter a couple times a week. Shelly has some great recipes on her website (theworldaccordingtoeggface.com). I also enjoyed shrimp, crab and the inside of a quiche. I always got sick on fish. :(
After the 4th month I was allowed "all foods as tolerated" but that mainly meant I added salad. I still stayed away from rice, pasta, sugar, and breads. Once I hit my target weight I would/do occasionally eat mashed potatoes and I eat Sun-maid cinnamon-raison toast with peanut butter for breakfast most days. That is the only bread I eat. I also enjoy chicken strips with cottage cheese, sugar-free marinade sauce and a little mozzarella cheese (sounds a little weird but it is my version of lasagna).
I would caution you about the soup - it is a "slider" food and won't keep you feeling satisfied for very long. Most programs have a "don't drink with meals or 30 minutes before/after" rule. Soup consists of food and liquid so by its very nature it breaks that rule.
I never counted calories, carbs, or sugar content. I just ate 3 meals a day with no snacking and made sure those meals got me to at least 70 grams of protein. I do dump really easily, so it became intuitive to stay away from carbs (I can't even eat half a carton of yogurt without getting sick).
Fun post!
