Well, come Nov 6th it will be one year since I had my RNY done. Man what a difference in me now. I started this journey topping out at 435 pounds when I decided to have Gastric Bypass Surgery done. By the time I finally had the surgery (which for me only took a couple months to get scheduled) I weighed in at 413 pounds.
Now I have to admit I had some "Issues" after surgery, nothing really major or life threatening but, I must admit, if someone had asked me if "I would do it again?" two weeks after surgery...I would have said "Hell NO" but, that third week I started to feel better and was losing weight, BIG CHUNKS of weight. Now I still was having issues and it was mainly my incision was not healing and kept tunneling (I did not have Laparoscopic Surgery, I was cut open) and then got infected so the doc had to open up the incision and clean it up. All in all it took about six months for me to heal up but, I was still losing weight, getting stronger and healthier by the day. Still though, I ended up with a "surgical hernia" which now that I am within 20 pounds of my goal, back under the knife I will go to have that fixed. So If someone would ask me today if I would do it again? My answer would be "YOU DAMN SKIPPY I WOULD"
So to sum this all up, one year has made a big difference in my life. To date I have lost a total of 160 pounds since the day of surgery (11-6-13) when I weighed 413. If I go by when I first started my journey when I maxed out at 435 pounds then I have lost a total of 183 pounds in 14 months. I have gone from a size 60 waist to a size 42 (I ran out of old clothes that I had that fit and had to go shopping for the first time and was quite surprised that i went into a size 42 pants and a 2XL shirt instead of a 6XL) I had fun buying new clothes.
So all this has lead me to a healthier life, a more energetic life and a just more fun life. So five days a week I walk 3 miles a day in under 50 mins to help keep in shape. I will be back at the gym to re-shape and tone my body (after hernia surgery). The wife and I have found the outside world again and are enjoying ourselves doing things I could not do before because I could not walk or stand for two long. Now, you can't keep me sitting still, I have to be on the go doing flea markets, walking the malls, amusement parks, state parks and visiting family and friends. I love my new lease on life.
In closing, For those of you just starting out or thinking about having this procedure done....DO IT, you will not regret it. After a year I am still losing weight, I have to admit I did plateau for a few months but, I stuck to the plan and BOOM!!!! I dropped 10 pounds and the weight started falling again, albeit a little slower but, you have to keep in mind you are still losing weight, even if it is only a few pounds a month, you are still losing weight. So yes, RNY was worth it for me.

So glad to hear you have done so well. Not that I had any doubt. You were always such a sponge for info and reaching out for support, key components, IMHO, for success!
