everybody tell me I have to walk more. I just had the ryn surgery on thursday and I feel like crap!! all I want to do is sleep .The last thing i feel like doing is walking!! I am making myself drink and keep up with the liquids but all I want to do is sleep. I don't want to keep taking the pain med but im in pain. I want to take something that won't put me to sleep maybe i will feel better. my stomach makes all this noise like am hungry but when I try to drink broth or some type of liquid i can only do 3 slips the most is this normal?

Try to walk it will make the healing faster and is huge on preventing blood clots. I know you feel bad and I'm so sorry you are having a rough time right now. This will pass and then you will be able to enjoy that you had this surgery.

This all sounds normal, don't get discouraged. The effects of the anesthesia last longer in some people. The pain meds also make you groggy. Resting is important, but balance it with short walks. And concentrate on taking frequent deep breaths. It will help to work things out of your system. Time will help, soon you will be feeling better.

Thats what I did the first week is walk for 10 minutes do my breathing exercises, drink a few sips and sleep for 2 hours. Get up and do it all over again. Take it easy and pace your self. Everything sounds normal.

I slept a lot for about a week after surgery. Get in what you can but don't stress out too much. You'll feel better in a couple days and then you can get out there and make it up. Feel better!

It sounds normal to me. I slept for the first week home and took pain meds. After that I was too tired to do anything for another two weeks. I did not really feel bck to normal energy level until three months post op. Until then I slept a lot, tried to walk a little and sip. Take it easy and do not worry if you can not do much. Make sure you are getting in liquids. It is normal to not be able to get too much in at first. Things will get better. Do not let yourself get dehydrated. Take care.

remember liquids come in all forms.

even sucking on a popcicle or crushed ice.

or popcicles made of clear protien shakes.

Yes, it all sounds normal. You need to walk a bit every couple hours during the day, even though you don't feel like it. Walking helps move the gas from surgery out of your system and will help prevent blood clots. It is easiest to stay ahead of the pain by taking the meds on schedule...once you start chasing the pain, it's hard to get ahead of it. You'll only need the pain meds for a week or two. I didn't feel hungry for months after surgery.

Hang in there!! It's worth it!
