Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
Bariatric Advantage Multis--capsule or chewables are available
Vitamin C-- an extra 500 - 1000 mg. What I don't use, I eliminate, but I find that Vit C is the best insurance against colds and flu. Can't remember the last time I had a respiratory illness
I take some heart-health stuff-- a capsule called VitaPulse from Prinnston something or other. Also an addtional 200 mg of Co Q10
OsteoBiflex Triple Strength--I have bone on bone arthritis and would not be able to sleep without this daily supplement. If I go more than two weeks without it, I'm in trouble. Since I can only take tylenol for pain, this supplement is a must for me.
Prevagen--a protein for the brain. I noticed a definite decrease in "brain fog" when I began to take this supplement.
I also take flax seed oil for the antioxidants, lutein, and when I think of it, biotin.
On Sundays, I take one B12 supplement.
I have a liquid plant-based iron supplement from Gaia that I take about twice a week.
I don't take additional calcium because I eat Greek yoghurt regularly, and my bone density scan was good. Also calcium levels were good on blood tests.
True confession: I put all these supplements in my daily pill box. the only ones that I MUST TAKE DAILY are the VitaPulse, CoQ10, OsteoBiflex and Prevagen. I really notice a difference if I don't take them. Sometimes I just get sick of swallowing pills. Some of my supplements are chewables, but I don't like them much either except for the vitamin C.
I do spread my pills and chewables out, some at breakfast, some at lunch, others at bedtime. It works. :)
