The infection (staff cellulitis) in my mom's knee has not responded to the oral meds. It has become necrotic with fluid build up behind the dead tissue. She is scheduled to have surgery on Monday 28th for debredment (SP?) and a drain. She also has had to consult with a plastic surgeon, because when (if) the infection is resolved, she will need to have muscle from her calf grafted into her knee in order to grow new tissue.
They wanted to do the surgery today, but she is on a blood thinner, and they need at least 3 days off of it before attempting surgery, so they are going to get the IV antibiotics going again, and are talking about keeping her for a week. She may have to go to a rehab center before returning home.
My biggest fear is that she will lose her independence at the least, and lose her leg at the worst.
Again I am throwing out there a plead for prayer. Please storm the gates and pass on the request to any and everyone you know
