I started at 347 in May of last year
RNY on September 25, 2012
My weight as of this morning 215
Weight loss has drastically dropped off but I have found myself creeping back into bad habits (snacking, grazing) and not getting enough exercise. So I am in the process of getting myself back into compliance!! I want to be under 200 by my 1 year surgeversary!!
I have lost 90 pounds so far. I'll celebrate 6 months post-op on July 8. I was hoping to be at 100 pounds by then, but I don't think I'll make it. I'm still thrilled though. I have a long way to go yet as well. Keep on keeping on!
I started my journey at 387 pounds in February of 2012. I wasn't able to have my surgery done until October 2012. The day of surgery I was 359 pounds.
I am struggling to stick to my diet. I am still losing but much slower. I still have to adhere strongly to my diet. Even a wee bit of fudging on my caloric intake and my body is ready and anxious to return to its former state... EEK!!!
My eating habits have definitely changed for the better. There is a whole list of foods I don't even particularly crave any more. Greasy foods make me queasy... I'm afraid of sugar so I'm pretty good at saying no to myself. My stomach protests if I try to eat too much...
I have gone from 120 units of apidra (40 units before each meal) to no apidra and from 100 units (50 units morning and 50 units at night) of lantus to 35 units in the morning none at night. My sugars are staying around 100.
Sometimes I get discouraged... I think to myself... Elissa you are now at the point where a lot of these people started... and you still have a whole bunch of pounds to lose... and that quick weight drop that I experienced the first couple of months... well... that is done and now its inch inch inch down... but... I'm wearing bicycle shorts... have to... the fat is hanging out of my swimsuit and that is ugly... LOL
I really thank you for your post and your invitation to give our stats. Thank you to all of you who responded. You have given me a lift I really need. We really have come a long way and that needs to be my focus right now...
Another perk of being 132 pound down, I love to shop now. But I have been restraining myself because nothing fits for too long. When I get to my final goal I think I am going to go crazy!!! I should start saving my money now for that shopping spree LOL
I am still preop (2 weeks till my final NUT weigh in!)... but i recently hit the 200's after losing 23 lbs during the preop stage.
Something my nut said at my last meeting with her that has stuck in my head is;
"WLS folks have to forever more be diligent in their efforts to lose and keep the pounds off because our fat cells are just screaming to become fat again!"
This has just stuck in my head! I have this visual of these little deflated fat cells screaming out for food! LOL! I hope everyones fat cells STARVE TO DEATH! :) :)
Congrats again on your progress!! Your photos are amazing!
Keep up the good work!!!!
I had RNY 2/13/13... I weighed 232 ... My starting weight was 252... Today I weigh 178 pounds.... Total loss of 74 pounds, 54 since surgery.. I have 28 pounds to reach my personal goal weight, and 38 to reach my nuts....
Congratulations!
Shelley :o)
