That is the question! I had surgery on the 12th and anticipated going back on the 25th. The problem is that, although I feel pretty good physically, I am just not sure that I am MENTALLY ready to go back. I have a desk job, so I am pretty sure I can handle the physical aspect. I don't know if I am ready to deal with trying to eat and drink under a microscope. Also, taking a shower requires me to almost take a nap! I could start working from home next week and I wonder if this would be the better option. I see the surgeon today, so we will discuss, just wondering your thoughts and how much time did those of you who have been through it take after surgery?

I'm still preop... But have had many other surgeries... I say if you can take another week and work from home, DO IT! A little more time to heal and adjust might just be what you need :)

My plan is to have surgery mid Aug. I'm a full time student at U of O... I'm going to take condensed courses for summer term, the 4 week crazy classes! But that way i'll end up with about 6 weeks off for surgery and recovery.

For me, i think it will be nice to have some time to adjust to my new
life and eating habits before returning.

At least thats the plan as of now... Much could change btwn now and then! :)

I went back after two weeks, I could have gone back sooner and when it was time to go back, I was ready to get back to work and get moving. You should do what's best for you. If you're not ready and can work from home then go for it.

He Slimbear - the fact that it exhausts you just to take a shower indicated that you might not be phyically ready to go back to work yet. If you have the option to work from home, why not try that first and see how it goes.

I went back after a week cos I only work part time but after getting home I slept soundly for two hours.

Take it easy on yourself :)

I went back after 6 weeks. Only because I do a lot of heavy lifting. Even then an now I'm still exhausted. I had mine on Dec 14. But its all in how you feel.

I had sleeve surgery and took two full weeks off and then went back for a week of 1/2 days working 8-Noon. I also have a desk job. It is more about being able to get all your liquids and protein in while working that is the hard part. I was constantly drinking and logging my one oz medicine cups of protein shake and water at my desk. If you have the time, take off that other week. I didn't want to burn up all my vacation time is why I did what I did.

I took off two weeks, but I think that was too soon. I had the option of teleworking and I took it. I had to give myself shots once a day to prevent blood clots after surgery so I also made sure I moved around. I was exhausted and sometimes still am and I'm almost 6 months out. Listen to your body and your surgeon.
