Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
What you want to do right now is simply follow the program your GBS team laid out for you as closely as possible . If you are getting the required protein, water and exercise - put all other concerns aside. I would personally avoid crackers but I have to - any simple carbs/white flour/starch spikes my blood sugar.
Looks to me like you are doing fine and congratulations!
But.... I am getting in all my protein and keeping my calories low so... hmmmm
They were mighty tasty with that hummus.
I am not diabetic so I guess I'm good but I will watch it.
I was asked to create 3 meals a day aiming for 60-80 grams of protein. I also need to get in my water, exercises and vitamins.
I guess the breakfast shake, cracker/hummus feast and supper shake will qualify.
I haven't had any problems with food yet so this is really cool.
It's a whole new world I guess :)
You aren't on a diet, you are embarking on a new way of life. Be sure to drink your water, get your protein and take those supplements. You'll be fine. You won't be able to consume enough calories that could affect you negatively.
Take care.

I noticed the first thing from Jerry's comment you replied to was the carb comment.. lol. The first paragraph of his reply is what you should focus on!!.. hehe.
Eggface herself goes well out of her way to keep carbs out of her recipes.
Additionally it stannds to reason that if there is to be only limited food intake with the objective being 80 grams of protein that carbs should be limited in the bariatric diet as they provide little nutrition.
I am discouraged at present because the weight loss I thought I had is false.
I stepped on the scale and my weight bounced back up to where I was when I came home from the hospital.
Thats about eight pounds (WTH!!!
I knew from reading the boards that the scale is a fickle mistress but geez.
First, just forget about the whole weight loss thing for a couple of weeks. Stop looking at the scale - it is NOT the best indicator of how you are doing at this point in your journey. You have just gone through major surgery. Focus on healing first. The weight loss absolutely WILL come - that is a fact you can be 100% certain of.
On carbs, please see this discussion initiated by bighotmama:

I think it will help give you some perspective as you begin to move forward.
But for now, focus on healing, following the program, and give yourself time. You will get there -- and there will be plenty of time later for the whole carb discussion.
