Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.

I am unable to exercise due to my bad knees. Will be getting first one replaced in Oct, and the second one in Dec. Can't wait till I can walk and stand again!!!
Are you able to get in your protein, fluids and vitamins? I have been lucky and have been able to do that since home from hospital... My doc and nut said it can make all the difference in recovery and feeling human again :) And I feel pretty darn good!
Wow pegmarie! That is awfully close in between knee surgeries. You won't even be back on your feet from the first one. You are really brave!
Insurance deductible is met for the year!!! Ortho said that about 4 to 6 weeks is the average, but that it's up to the individual. I must get the left one first. That joint is so worn down that there is no knuckle left and is at high risk of dislocation. If I am able to get the second in Dec then I will be able to save a huge out of pocket amount not to mention that in Dec my 80yr old mom will be here for a month to help out with Christmas. (I have 7 kids & 17 grandkids) She too has had both knees replaced at about 8 wks apart, and now gets around great!!! (is very independent, and still drives even cross country) We call it pioneer stock!! LOL
Get out and get a little sun everyday, that will help too. :)
Consider some water excercise. Even if you use your arms, it will help to move blood around.
The 1st day after surgery I was up walking, the day after that... doing stairs! CRAZY!! :)
