Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
I don't know what your nut recommends for your first steps into the GBS lifestyle. I had to do liquids only for the first two weeks PO, followed by one to two weeks on soft foods only. After that, I could introduce ONE new solid food a day, very well chewed, to see how it sat with my new pouch.
I recommend that you go VERY slowing in introducing foods, and try to avoid recipes that have a lot of ingredients. Very simple will work best for you for the first couple of months.
I think I was at almost six months before I ate two things together--like a slice of turkey breast and a slice of cheese.
I remember that I dumped once (including vomiting). It was not fun.
:)
I've been making a LOT of soups lately because they're easy to put veggies and protein powder in and, since I like my soups on the thick side anyway, easy to puree. (Side note--my DH got me a Vitamix for Christmas so I've been having fun using that to puree my soups.) I've been having a lot of fun exploring new foods and so far the only bad reaction was yesterday with the cheese.
On the good side, though, I experienced two NSV's this week. See a separate post about those. :-)
