So last night before bed, I had ONE scrambled egg. It tasted good and went down no problem, though I may have eaten it a tad too quickly.

I woke up this morning and as usual, went right to the fridge and got a protein shake. After a few sips, I was doubled over in pain that lasted on and off for 3-4 hours.

The pain was just under my breasts and was totally unbearable and incapacitating.

I called my doctor and she tried to tell me I drank the protein shake too quickly, but I know I didn't.

Could I just not be able to tolerate eggs right now? Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

i can tolerate eggs. i can only eat half of one though. i hope you feel better and figure out what is wrong. did you drink the same shake you usually drink?

Same shake that I've been drinking for the last week. Nothing has changed.

I don't think it would be the egg before bed. Other wise you would think it would have done something before that. I hope you figure out what it was.

If it were the eggs you would have been sick within the first half hour. You are still kinda fresh from surgery... is there any chance it was gas? If this keeps up make sure you keep on your doc bc I haven't heard of anything like that from just a few sips.

I don't think it was the eggs...I had a dumping episode from a fat free activia yoghurt,that I had at breakfast, have had them fine before..just think it was too much sugar after having nothing in me for 8 hours...maybe this is what happened to you..I was in a lot of pain my stomach was making so much noise I had upset tummy and had felt so tired had to lay down for 3 hours.. sometimes it can be a mixture of things you have and you could be fine one day one week then BAM!!

Hi there,
I started having a pain when I swallowed - it was in a similar location. I am almost 8 months post op. I THINK it was that I had drank some juices that were too acidic and I had helped move some furniture so its possible i re strained my repaired hiatal hernia. Anyhow, I took GasX and Philips for about 3 days and that helped.

Was it on the right side under your ribcage? I ask because that is where many experience gall bladder pain... By Dr do you mean surgeon or GP. because this is prolly a GP issue...rd

Hi Ricky!

It was all across that section of my ribcage, but it definitely wasn't my gallbladder since I had that removed two years ago. I appreciate that though!!!

I'm definitely feeling better today and pray that I don't experience that pain again!
