Tell me about your back pain

I know lots of people on here have posted about having back pain. Well I am there big time! In the middle of my back to the left side I am having this constant burning. My right hip is also hurting. I don't know if the two are related or not. I have been walking on the treadmill lately but the pain started before that. The last two nights the pain was so bad that I took some liquid Lortab that I had left from when I had my surgery. It did make it where I could sleep and took the edge off. But as soon as I got up and started my daily routine the burning pain came back.

Is this just something that happens when you are losing weight? or do I need to start getting concerned and going to the doctor?

I can't remember how far out you are??? My back started hurting about a month out...my surgeon said it was my weight shifting and my body trying to compensate. I got a few massages along the way and they seemed to help. I'm 2+ years out and only have back pain if I've been working out and deserve it! ;) ...hurts so good and all that stuff!

I'm 12 weeks out tomorrow. I have been walking on the treadmill and doing light weight training. My doctor wants us to take the weight training slowly until after 6 months. So I don't lift more than 20-25 pounds with my arms and about 40 with my legs.

The back pain is so horrible right now. I don't want to injure myself but I also want to develop some good exercise habits.

I have some pretty tough back pain right now. I'm nine months out -- and I think it started getting pretty bad at about 6 or 7 months -- middle of the back -- and it radiates to my right side. I have been going to a chiropractor -- and that helps temporarily. Through some discussion, I think it is because the weight loss. I have not done a good job in strengthening my core -- so that is what I am working on now -- hoping that it will help.

Do you have an exercise ball? If so, that is supposed to be very helpful in strengthening your core -- worth a shot anyway. Hope you feel better :).

My back pain has actually gotten much better. I had bad back pain from a car accident and since the weight loss it has gotten much better. The only problem I have is sometimes I have to remember to stand up straight. I think my body is still used to being hunched over to carry all of the weight and it takes conscious thought to remind myself to stand up straight.

When I first starting having the back around 2 months ago, I posted for advice. I was experiencing lower back pain on right side and had it on and off. When I was 90 pounds more, I would occasinally hurt my back and it would get better in a week or so. I now have more episodes and have to believe it is from the weight loss and my posture. I still can walk my 2 miles and only hurt in the sitting position. As we speak I am going on 8 days w/ this pain and if it continues I may consider going to the doctor. I found some ipuprfen chewables for kids 160mg yesterday and it helped at Walmart. Hope you feel better soon. Take are. Mary.

I am preoperative and i have had lower back pain and left hip pain for years. However in the last couple of years i have been diagnosed with RA. I am hoping that getting the weight off will help to eliviate some of the pain.

I pray that those that are suffering with pain now will get some relief from it.

i am glad that i am not the only one that is going thru this. At first i thought it was a urinary track infection because truthful i don't drink as much water as i should but every day my back really do be killing me

OMGoodness!!!! I have that exact same pain...in the exact same area. It is so bad, it hurts to bend over. I had wondered if it was a kidney stone but the doctor said muscle spasms. :( I am not really believing that though because it is STILL hurting just about every day. It started out slow but is getting worse :( I go see my doc today about my ears (infected again) and am planning on asking him about it AGAIN! I didnt have this pain 88 lbs ago, why now!?!?!
