just got home from hospital, I can see what people mean when they talk about head hunger, my wife and friend got KFC on the way home and I wanted to try just one tiny bite of a chip, but the thought of dumping got the better of me, for those who have been through it I suppose the hunger stops when you eat food other than fluid???
thanks for your thoughts and support as well

Head hunger is a tough pill to swallow (so to speak). I'm not sure it EVER just goes away. You have to examine your thoughts and feelings both mentally and physically. Keeping a journal helps some deal with the issues of head hunger. It's so important to your success both short term and especially long term to recognize the difference between real hunger and head hunger. There are lots of books and articles that tackle the issue of head hunger. LCat will probably be the best "go to" person to get info on the reading materials.
Welcome home!
Congratulations on your surgery. For me it's all head hunger and compulsion. I don't believe I have any real hunger, just the compulsion and desire to eat that contributed to why I am obese in the first place. I am almost 3 months post op. I don't eat ANY breads, deserts etc. for this reason. I sip all day. . Protein is the key ingredient.
doing a wee is also a pain, did anyone else have problems with this to start??
I'm guessing the catheter is to blame for the discomfort "weeing."
I encourage you to "reframe" how you think of the smell of good food. You don't have to chew and swallow food to enjoy it - the smell can also bring enjoyment if you think of the smell as an experience of its own. I chose to enjoy the smell the way I enjoy a food-scented candle.
Similarly, it helps to think of the surgery having saved you from the power food had over you rather than something that deprives you of food. I think of it as having given me secret super-powers over food!! Doesn't bother me a bit when people eat around me. That crap was never my friend and I love living life without food and eating controlling me. Freedom!!
Walk, walk, sip, sip, rest. Repeat!
