Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
If you are not familiar with EFT (tapping), I suggest that you investigate it. It's a quick technique that you can do in just a couple of minutes that really helps to reduce stress and the emotions of the moment. I have used it successfully to avoid grazing. When I'm inclined to eat when I shouldn't (or something I shouldn't), I tap on what I am feeling and what I am wanting to do. The intensity of the urge diminishes. It's really weird how it works. And it is something that you can do quickly, almost no matter where you are. When I'm in public, I excuse myself and go to the ladies room. Two or three minutes, and I'm okay.
Farmgirl is right on as always. EFT works wonders and I have used it for years. One of the things to remember is that stress affects our metabolism and digestion. The more we stress, the worse it gets. EFT helps to bring the stressed feelings in our body down in intensity so that we can think and make better choices. Here is a link with a script for tapping on stress around food. It will give you an idea of how this works. You can substitute your own thoughts, words, and feelings and change it up to fit your needs. It is quick, and very effective.
