Go back to basics. Do a 5 day pouch test and then stay on the high protein, low carb meal plan. You will get plenty of carbs for your health in the form of dairy, veggies, legumes, and some fruit. No nutritional need to add back in bread, rice, pasta, potatoes, or sugar.
Like you, I can eat just about anything. But I really, really don't want to re-gain weight. So I choose to avoid the garbage. I know that this is hard. Believe me, I love food. The only way that I can do this is to plan ahead and make certain that I have healthy choices always at hand.
Will your wife help you out with this?
BTW, stick with the whole grains when you eat bread--no white stuff! I've noticed that if I eat carbs--even the complex ones--I don't lose and I might even pack on some instant water weight.
Just sayin......
At some point..couple of years maybe, you might be able to put small amounts of junk food back into your diet. At about 7 years post op and being at goal for 6 years I added *1* cookie a day to my food intake, and a small bag of chips once a month. Maybe cake - a small portion on holidays. But a handful of candy? Not for me-I used to have to have a Snickers bar every day. If I had one now I doubt I could stop..so I don't.
Just don't do this to yourself.

Good luck to you
It's funny , I so seldom find a GPS patient who will admit to eating what I do. Yet if a good percentage of us gain the weight back this must be how it happens. I've also seen some people eat and noticed how they minimize what and how miuch they really eat.
I made up my mind today to make major changes and 86 most of the sweets.
Yet, I just can't relate to those who say they never eat the wrong stuff or too much food. Because my experience is that such people don't really exist.
