I just came back to work on Christmas Eve, I was out exactly three months after my surgery due to very serious complications. I have still managed to lose almost 100 pounds since May and have been doing really good. One of my coworkers just dropped off a little Christmas gift to me this morning and when I opened it was a gift card to go out to dinner at Bertucci's, which I believe sells Italian food and pizza. What the heck, I know it is the thought that counts but why would you give someone who just had weight loss surgery a gift card to a restaurant???

Some people just don't get it. I am almost 10 months out and we go to my inlaws for lunch on Sundays. Just last week my mother-in-law asked me how long I was going to keep up "this silly diet" that I am on. She truly doesn't get that it is a total lifestyle change.

As far as the gift card goes maybe you can regift it. Congrats on the weight loss!

There are things we can eat at ANY restaurant ....at an Italian place you can have chicken marsala, cattaciatore, piccata, franceses etc fish or shrimp fra diavolo (skip the pasta) I even order manacotti and eat the ricotta filling and a very small amount of the pasta wrapper. When you order arrives ask for a take home container and place 3/4's of you portion in it to take home. You can order a app and share a entree. There are ways we can eat in almost any restaurant or occasion. d

maybe she knows you like that restaurant and down the road you can use it with someone else share your food there are so many other foods that you can eat at any restaurant it will be a challenge are you up to it if not dont go good luck

Awesome job on the weight loss.
I wouldn't be upset about the gift card. There are great Italian foods that we can eat, you'll end up taking home most of it home, but you can make a few more meals with the leftovers.

MOST RESTAURANTS OFFER A SOUP AND SALAD OPTION - THE RESTAURANT CARD IS PERFECT BECAUSE THERE WILL COME A TIME WHEN YOU WILL BE ABLE TO GO OUT AND ENJOY A MEAL WITH YOUR FAMILY & FRIENDS.

Ha! My mother gave me a MCDONALD'S gift card for a stocking stuffer. My MOTHER. Mybe it was rude but right away I asked if I could give it to my sis for the kids... She was like well I thought you go there... No mother you constantly tell me about your friend who goes there for a grilled chicken but I NEVER ever EVER go there o_O she also gave me a OLIVE GARDEN gift card. I use to love olive garden but even since surgery I tell her I dont go there... Yes they have soups buy they are WAAAAAY high in carbs o_O

I will have to hold onto the card for a while. I don't normally eat soups because they just don't satisfy me and so far I haven't been cleared to eat salads. I see my nutritionist this Saturday and I am hoping she oks salad.

for nye mom dad and i went to aunt carols, our friend ginger her hubby, and grandson came over too. Ginger knows i had the surgery, she knows all about the surgery cause her daughter had it. anyway she brought over a pepperoni roll she was given. she offered it to me! its cheese and pepperoni rolled in bread!

People are just clueless sometimes.

My father got me a *cookbook* for Christmas. And not a special surgery-friendly cookbook either. A regular, full-of-carbs, cookbook that I will really never be able to use.
