Back in 2011 I had GBS and the results were great. I lost well over a hundred pounds and literally felt like a new man. But two years later life showed up and I ovecame the so calleed dumping syndrome when I ate sugar. I gradually was back to my old sweet tooth self and gained a lot of the weight back.

Now I've lost 40 lbs over the summer but a long way to go and much slower than post surgery.

So if you are open to suggestions. Follow the plan after your surgery

You are not alone. This happens to a lot of folks post surgery. Good for you for getting back on track. It is definitely a lifetime commitment. It is too easy for old habits to take hold. Stay strong and you can do it.

I"m there now. I never had a problem with sugar post surgery, I even joked with my surgeon that I wanted my money back because that was a big downfall with me. I started out slow but it didn't take long for me to get back into my old sugar habits. Yesterday was my 2 year anniversary of the surgery and I have done a really good job up until recently. I have slowly been gaining weight, I'm have decided to "back up" and do more protein shakes and eliminate sugars completely. I know it will be more difficult now but I WILL NOT go back to my old weight, and I know it's a slippery slope once the weight starts coming back. I am going to dig out and look up new recipes for post op eating and do better with planning my meals.
Still the best decision I ever made in my life and I am not about to mess it up. Anyone else struggling with the same issue, stay strong, you can do it you just need to make up your mind. Best wishes to you all.

i had surgery inn february on this year 2020. i havent lost any weight, ive actually gained weight. im just disappointed and depressed about this. i geuss just keep trying.

Mary you must get back to your consultant, see a dietician and make this work for you. Perhaps a reset diet will get you on the right track but if you're not losing after 6 months then you need to see your consultant urgently before your window of opportunity is closed. You can do this but you need help - go and get it.

I’m 11 years come April 10th since my gbs. I lost 85lbs and gained all but 30lbs back. I’m trying to get back to the practice of drinking my shakes and not eating sweets like others but it is hard. I used to bring food to bed because I only ate small meals during the day and I have stopped doing that but I am still very hungry at night. I need to again loss the 85 lbs plus to get even to where is was it’s very hard.

Thanks all. I did make significant progress in 2019 but just holding since. I'd like to lose 30-50 more and I have gotten back to trying this month but no major progress yet. I would not be exggaerating to say over half my calories come from grain based carbs and or sugar. Probably more. Thanks for sharing as I don't feel so unique anymore.

This is definitely a process and you definitely have to keep up with the program. I will be 11 years out on August 2. It’s a daily commitment.

Thank you all. I have never ( since I had to start worrying about weight 30 years ago) stayed at a goal weight. Got there a few times but it seems like I'm either losing or I'm gaining
