I knew that day would come, and it has. Had my RNY on December 11th so am eleven weeks post-op. Lost 19 lbs pre-op and 42 post-op for a grand total of 61 lbs so far (yay!), but in the last week have only dropped a pound. My goal is to lose 114 lbs, so I'm actually a little more than halfway there. Wow!

I am not feeling too badly about that, though, because I can feel and see the difference in my body. Tonight I'm happily sorting through six garbage bags full of new-to-me clothes that friends have given me to tide me over til my weight stabilizes. Everything is going into large plastic totes labeled "Too Big," "Donate (either not my style or much too big now)," or "Not Yet." That last one is for clothes that are a still a size or two too small. :-)

Slowing down.... it happens, hang in there.

And may I say that it sounds like you have some awesome friends to have blessed you with all those clothes. That will save you a bundle. :)

A little pause in weight loss is perfectly normal. Surprisingly, when that happens you usually continue to lose inches. What fun it is to go through clothes from your friends and try things on! I remember getting a skirt from my sister that was absolutely gorgeous! I wanted to wear it sooooo bad, but it was just too tight around the waist even after I reached my goal weight. I hung it in my closet and looked at it longingly for 6 months. I tried it on one day and it was several inches too big around the waist! I'd stopped losing weight but I guess the inches just kept coming off over the following months. Have fun sorting through your clothes! Don't be tempted to keep your "fat jeans", just in case. Toss everything that's too big!
You're doing an amazing job. Dont' get discouraged by a little slow down. Put that discouragement in one of your bags labeled TOSS IT!

I agree with Joanna - get rid of the fat clothes... but I'm glad I saved 1 pair of jeans and 1 shirt to remind myself of how far I've come.

I have to admit, it is fun to watch your journey!

I always tell newbies to expect to either lose weight or inches, but not usually both at the same time.

Congratulations you are doing great! Doesn't it feel good to get rid of those big clothes? I had my RNY on Dec. 28th. I had lost 11 pounds pre-op and 54 post-op for a total of 65 pounds so far. My goal was to lose 100 pounds. I just took 6 garbage bags full of too big clothes to our community thrift store.

My husband was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer 1 1/2 weeks after my surgery so it has been a stressful 2 months for us. Before my surgery I had always been a stress eater so I was a bit worried that that might happen to me again. But so far I have not had any desire to revert back to my old ways. Thank goodness!

That is awesome PianoDiva!!! I am sure the inches keep sliding off even when the scale takes a pause.

Enjoy the closet cleaning. I need to start making plans to do that soon as well. (Minus the friends donations. My friends aren't that cool lol.)

I am so proud of you Diva. We all get so impatient with ourselves. Saw one of my doctors and he was so pleased, the best comment you look so healthy you have color. It made me smile. You keep doing good. We are all so great.

Glad to hear you're doing so well and keeping your great attitude. Remembering to enjoy what we can do better, faster, easier, now is one of the best parts of the journey.
For instance, we had over 50 degrees here Saturday, rare in Minnesota in the dead of winter, and I was able to walk far enough to wear out my dog. That would have been impossible 5 years ago! Yay!!!!
