I am now 9 months out from surgery, and I have been noticing that my skin has changed a bit. I have a big scrape on my ankle from a fall a few weeks ago, and it is taking forever to go away. I started thinking about what might cause that, and it dawned on me that vitamin absorption could be the culprit. Does anyone have the same problem or know any information that might help?

i kind of had the same issue...
my doc said NEVER to use neosporin....because it kills the good germs that fight the bad germs...i use polysporin..its a single antibiotic instead of a triple like neosporin...works fast!!

Thanks sweden54... i'll try that. So far I haven't put anything on it, and it isn't infected or anything, just still there. It was kinda big to start with (it is never pretty when an adult falls LOL) so that could also be part of the problem.

yeah it gets no prettier after you get skinny either lol
yeah try the polysporin...most grocery stores have it my the triple anibiotics...

Lower extremity wounds tend to take a longer time to heal, from what a doc told me once.

Interesting. Are you due for some blood work? Maybe your doc can check for vitamin a defficiency that may cause slow healing. This is a great subject and if you find out it is from malabsorbtion...let us know.
