Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
I understand what you are talking about. I have asked this of my church and what I was told any fasting would amazing. Never put your health at risk. I am UPC. And understand . Just fast from something like Facebook, Tv, Cell Phone ect. You will get the same blessing as long as you are doing it for the right reason.
Personally, I had lost about 40 pounds many years back. I had a personal discipline of fasting (water only) each Monady, for 24hrs. I decided on Monday to extend that fast to three days. On the evening of the second day, things got very ugly with dizziness, inability to think clearly and lots of other things that are common to a diabetic reaction to low blood sugar. I was and am not diabetic. I stopped the fast as soon as I realized what was happening. For me, the risk is not worth taking. A healthy temple of the spirit must function as well as it can. There are other ways to access the right side of the brain besides lack of nutrition.
Blessings to you as you get this sorted out,

this question has come up before. My first thought is that if your body can handle a fast before surgery, then why wouldn't it be able to handle it after? Perhaps because of malabsorption we wouldn't be able to bounce back as quickly.
But here's my take on fasting after GBS from the spiritual side. people choose to give something up during the fast that is a sacrifice. I ask with all humility, how much of a sacrifice is it for you to not eat?? I mean even at two years out I don't crave food as i used to. So your heart is clearly in the right place, you want to honor the Lord by giving up something. But it is supposed to be hard to give it up.
I would go with the recommendations of a couple of others. TV, Cell phones, computers, sleeping, exercise, sex, coffee. Something that truly, truly gives you physical pleasure. I believe God will honor that fast, because you are keeping the spirit of the fast. you are giving up something that is HARD for you to give up.
Let us know what you decide,
Blessings,
rochelle
I thank God that there are people like yourself in this world who are so dedicated to prayer life.
