Good morning!

5 months post-op and doing well. Down about 80+ lbs, clothes that have been in the closet for awhile actually fit (Yay!), energy is good...life is blessing I am embrassing every day!

No regrets with my decision for the surgery (RY) even with the major hair thinning. This too shall pass. However, I am finding it more challenging to eat pretty much anything these days. Yogurt and cottage cheese are my staples. I am chewing until mush but nothing really taste good. I try to get as much water in every day. I have to tie a bottle to my wrist when I am busy so I don't forget. :-) My question is this, I can eat breakfast and drink my water, but around an hour or two later I start to get these horrific pains in my side, almost like a gas bubble. I'm no stranger to the gas thing, but never had pain like this. Anyone else ever experience this? Is is truly just gas or part of having constipation?

Congratulations on your progress! It sounds like it is time for a trip to the doctor! Please call. If there is nothing wrong then you might consider what you ate, how much, and how fast. Also how fast you drank your water. Are you cleaning out regularly every day? If not are you taking Fiber?

Thanks for the advice Lcat4. Everything is the same as usual foodwise. Not drinking or eating any faster than usual either, and cleaning out regularly too (not always easy, but regular). That is what has me puzzled. I do see my doc here in a couple of weeks but wanted to get some voices of experience on the subject matter. :-) With all the recent and dramatic changes to our system, it is hard telling how the body is always going to react. Allergy season is hitting me a bit harder than normal so may be something to do with that too. Anywoo...thanks again. Have an awesome day!

If you are doing a lot of coughing from allergies, that will mess with your rib and abdominal muscles.

Thought about that too Lcat4. Different kind of pain. I believe I am just not drinking enough water with my calcium chews. I happened to be bad this weekend and didn't get them in like I should. Remarkably, no pains. Back to work today and the pain was back. Ok...so there are A lot of assumptions that could be made there...but we're not going down that road. :-) I did notice though when I got more water in me...the pain seemed to subside.

Hi I find that when I eat a little to much I get that same pain its just a way of my body saying woa there you need to stop. I am at 1 year and 8 months and for my hair falling out I bought some biotin from walmart that has helped so much.

Hi Jam80. Good to know. I hadn't really thought about it being a case of my pouch being a bit on the full side. I'll have to watch and see if that is truly a cue for me. I know the runny nose certainly is. Who would have thought!

The hair is coming back slowly but surely. I just like to say that it is dealing with a newly inducted teenager (just turned 13 year recently...sigh). Loss of hair couldn't possibly be from any other outside factors. :-) In the mean time, it sounds like biotin might be a great option to check out.
